PODA Professional Standards (PPS)

  • Individually members must maintain and observe the highest standards of conduct. The standing of the profession depends on the judgement of individual members.
  • Users of a member's services, which may include a member's firm and/or colleagues in that firm, are entitled to have absolute confidence in the skill, objectivity and integrity of the member.
  • Members may from time to time become privy to confidential information relating to a client. Members must not breach this confidentiality unless required by law.
  • Members should not take on projects unless satisfied of their personal competence in the skills required to complete the project.
  • Members must act courteousness to both clients and other members at all times.
  • Criticism of one member's work by another member is wholly acceptable, provided that the criticism is properly reasoned and believed to be justified. However, criticism made where there is no opportunity for reply or for publicity could well be inappropriate.
  • Any member found guilty of being in breach of these standards may be subject to disciplinary proceedings.
